Trinity 1 vs Hunters 2

Hunters 2nd trotted out straight after their Christmas break on the longish trek to Hinckley to play Trinity 1. The new sports centre at Hinckley wasn’t too tricky to find – even if the car park was (for some of the team). A very nice venue and good facilities for badminton, despite them setting up a table tennis court between the badminton courts. Tonight’s team was Steve Turner, Aseem Sharma, Simon Piercy and David Pugh.

Trinity provided some well needed points for Hunters 2 on the reverse fixture, so we went into the game with some confidence. This was quickly overturned when both initial rubbers went Trinity’s way, 2-1 in games.

In the next two rubbers Hunters upped their game and this time came out the victors in straight games.

With all to play for going into the split, David and Aseem secured their win fairly easily, while Steve and Simon took their first game and squandered a small lead in the second. In the final game, Trinity had the edge, and took the rubber.

So despite Hunters winning 9 games to 6, the match score goes down as 3-3. Another well earned point.
